An unpredictable antihero, dangerous crime cases, and a dark new anime are heading toward the January 2027 season.
Anime fans craving something darker and more intense have a new series to watch. MURCIÉLAGO has revealed its first teaser trailer, a new visual, and its main voice cast ahead of its planned January 2027 premiere in Japan.
Based on Yoshimurakana's manga published by Square Enix, the series promises a dangerous world where justice takes a brutal turn and the line between hero and villain becomes increasingly blurred.
⚔️ Meet the Voices Behind the Main Characters
The newly announced cast brings several key characters to life:
- Hitomi Ueda as Kuroko Koumori
- Minori Suzuki as Hinako Tozakura
- Sumire Uesaka as Chiyo Yanaoka
The first teaser gives viewers an early glimpse of the characters and the series' intense atmosphere. Each character adds another layer to a story filled with dangerous assignments, complicated relationships, and unpredictable situations.
🩸 A Crime Thriller With a Dangerous Twist
At the center of the story is Kuroko Koumori, a former death-row inmate recruited to eliminate exceptionally dangerous criminals under a special legal arrangement.
Instead of following a conventional detective or superhero, MURCIÉLAGO puts viewers alongside a protagonist whose methods are as ruthless as the people she hunts.
Expect a combination of:
- Explosive action and brutal confrontations
- Dark comedy mixed with disturbing situations
- Crime-driven storytelling with unpredictable characters
- Complicated relationships that add depth to the chaos
The anime is being produced by Satelight and Staple Entertainment. Takashi Naoya serves as chief director and series composer, while Matsuo Asami directs the series.
📅 When Does MURCIÉLAGO Premiere?
The anime is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan in January 2027. HIDIVE has also announced plans to stream it in the United States, Canada, and select other regions.
International availability may vary, so viewers should watch for additional announcements from official distributors.
🎬 Why Anime Fans Should Keep It on Their Watchlist
With its unconventional heroine, dark premise, and dangerous criminal underworld, MURCIÉLAGO could appeal to viewers who enjoy gritty action anime and morally complicated protagonists.
The first teaser sets the tone for a series that isn't afraid to explore the darker side of justice.
